2021 ESPAS Annual Conference

Organised by European Strategy and Policy Analysis System (ESPAS)

Description

The 2021 ESPAS Annual Conference will be held - virtually - on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 November, with successive days hosted by the European Commission and European Parliament.

We will meet again this year with the coronavirus pandemic still seriously disrupting the lives of citizens around the world. This crisis has not only shone a light on our collective lack of preparedness for existential threats or shocks, but revealed and indeed accentuated fault-lines in both the international community and our own domestic societies. It is forcing us to think more intensively about the challenges and choices that are likely to confront Europe in coming years and about how best to make the transition to the kind of future we would like to see.

The purpose of the annual conference is to engage in a broad-ranging conversation with policy makers, policy analysts and foresight experts in governments, think tanks, universities and many other organisations on what matters most in the fast-moving field of strategic foresight. The events of the past eighteen months have decisively underlined the importance of foresight in effective policy-making and we hope that this autumn's conference will deliver fresh thinking about our common future, and how it can be shaped.
