EU Animal welfare today & tomorrow

Organised by European Commission

Description

The high level Conference "EU Animal welfare today & tomorrow", taking place on 9 December 2021, will constitute an opportunity for stakeholders to validate the preliminary findings of the Fitness Check of the current EU animal welfare legislation. It will also offer a possibility to express opinions on the Commission’s main ideas on the revision of the EU animal welfare acquis (the public on-line consultation was launched mid-October).

The conference will be opened by Commissioner Kyriakides and will gather the main players in the field of animal welfare from the EU and beyond. The key note speech will be delivered by the world-renowned ethologist and conservationist, Dr Jane Goodall.

During five interactive thematic panels, high level experts will address the main animal welfare issues to be tackled by the future European legislation: end the cage age, welfare at farm, labelling, transport and slaughter.

The agenda will be published soon and the registrations will be opened in mid-November.
