2020Description
Directorate General for Maritime and Fisheries Affairs (DG MARE) and the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) are organising a side event on innovative projects for a sustainable economy. If you would you like to know more about the links between blue economy and circular economy, if you are interested in these topics, then you are most welcome to attend the WCEF side event Innovative Projects for a Sustainable Blue Economy.
As outlined in the EU Blue Economy Report 2020, oceans, coastal areas and marine activities are playing a central role in supporting Europe’s post-crisis economic recovery through innovative products and services and creating high-value jobs that shift the EU towards the objectives of the Green Deal.
In this context, a selection of European and Maritime Fisheries Fund (EMFF) projects will present innovative solutions they are developing and will show complementarities between Blue economy and Circular Economy and how they can contribute to the EU Green Deal’s objectives. The projects are addressing the following blue economy areas:
- Marine litter
- Bio based materials
- Sustainable aquaculture
- Offshore installations
The event takes place online on 16 November 2020 and includes interactive discussions with speakers to facilitate knowledge exchanges and networking.
Andreea STRACHINESCU, Head of Unit at DG MARE and Vincent FAVREL, Head of Unit at EASME will introduce the topics of the event.
This is a side event of the World Circular Economy Forum 2020.
