Roundtable Seminars on EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement

Organised by EU Delegation to Vietnam

Description

Following the entry into force of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) on 1 August 2020, EU-Vietnam bilateral trade has seen considerable development, manifested in robust growth of Vietnam’s exports to the EU in recent months, as well as increased imports from the EU. The agreement also promotes sustainable economic growth, through the development of local businesses and creates favourable ground for FDI. In order to build on the present momentum, the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam is organizing two Roundtable Seminars in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on 16 and 18 December 2020 respectively. Details of the events can be found in the draft agendas.

The roundtable seminars are open to Vietnamese Government agencies, trade and economic institutes and associations, Vietnamese business community, especially small and medium enterprises, and small start-up firms. The events are expected to create open discussions between Vietnamese and European policy-makers and businesses on how to fully capitalize on the EVFTA to facilitate more trade, attract more investment and contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam at the event in Hanoi. Meanwhile in Ho Chi Minh City the roundtable seminar discusses how to improve the business environment in Vietnam to best utilize the opportunites and benefits of the agreement.
